Use WorldCat, with 2 billion items from more than 10,000 libraries worldwide, to find books and manuscript collections (a.k.a. archival resources) that the West Florida Genealogy Branch does not own. We can show you how to request these items using Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

A basic Google search can be a great starting point for online research. Use advanced search to find high quality genealogy sites, including government and university websites on genealogy. To find online texts, learn to serach Google Books, "the world's most comprehensive index of full-text books."

Use keyword searching to find names or places in millions of texts. Many useful historical and biographical resources may be downloaded for free.

Items in the public domain are searchable and viewable online; even materials under copyright may be searched, making it possible to identify specific items or pages within books or other texts to be requested for ILL.
