Living History Day in Brewton FEB 6 2025
From the Facebook page:

SNEAK PEEK: We hinted that something BIG was coming to the Coastal Alabama Community College's Brewton campus. We will be hosting the Coastal Alabama Living History Day on Thursday, February 6, 2025. We've invited over forty different groups from across our region and beyond representing historical sites and organizations. This event will be FREE and open to the public. We all learn in different ways, and our Living History Day will equip our visitors to experience history through all their senses. Several organizations will bring hands-on demonstrations. Others will be dressed in historical regalia. All of these organizations have volunteered their time to share with our students and community. Our Coastal Alabama Community College Libraries have been incredible to work with on this upcoming event. The Coastal Sound, jazz band and vocalists, will be performing throughout the day. Our art department will be hosting a live Raku pottery firing. Of course, Yotee the Coyote will be checking it all out, too! This is a very special event for the Brewton community and beyond. There is much more in store for this event that's too long to put into this post! Be sure to follow this page for more updates as we get closer to time. In the meantime, be sure to let folks know about the great things happening at Coastal Alabama Community College.

AR-2 Forms now easier to find
From the Facebook page:
From Records Not Revenue: "As of 17 May 2024, all World War II era Alien Registration records (AR-2 Forms) and their index were transferred from US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) custody to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Researchers can now adopt an easier and more efficient procedure to search the index to identify and request these records." Read more here.

From the Facebook page: Looking for Lost Cousins? The Lost Cousins website is all about making connections. Find your ancestors, their siblings, and their children on a listed Census record for the U.K. or U.S., and connect yourself to them. That will help others researching the same people to find you. Everything is free through Sept. 30, 2024.

Always re-check important sources!
From The Archive Lady's Facebook page: This blog post from the State Archives of North Carolina is a PERFECT example of why our genealogy research is never done! These records are already in an archive BUT they were not processed in a way that researchers would know to look in them for their ancestors. The archivists have reprocessed this collection of records and have digitized a lot of them so you can find your ancestors, especially your enslaved ancestors. A must read for any North Carolina genealogy.
